Aldarich is a supporting character on the Netflix original series Barbarians. He is portrayed by Arved Birnbaum.
Aldarich is the Reik of Marsi, who joined forces with the tribes to conquer Rome after leading them into an ambush in Teutoburg Forest.

Season 1[]
Going to War with Rome?[]
Aldarich attends the meeting of the Germanic tribes to discuss how they must now pay Rome tribute. Reik Aldarich of the Marsi tribe decides to maintain peace, like others. With that, Segimer announces that they will keep the peace with the Romans.[1]
Thusnelda and Arminius' Wedding[]
Aldarich attends Thusnelda and Arminius' marriage. The tribe gathers to feast afterward. As a wedding gift, Aldarich promises Arminius 2,000 of his warriors. Arminius then looks to Rurik, who has nothing to offer and doesn't trust the other tribes.
Aldarich later attends the moon festival as instructed. Arminius and Thusnelda has gathered them all in hopes of convincing them to come together to fight against Rome. Thusnelda explains that if they don’t fight, Rome will be their judge instead of their gods. So the tribes eventually agree to join forces.[2]
The Battle of Teutoburg Forest[]
Hadgan explains his plan of retreat as he doesn't want his men to die. When the other tribes begin to reconsider their allegiance, Thusnelda reminds them all of what Arminius is risking. The father of the gods, Woden, has seen what’s coming because he sacrificed his eye. So Thusnelda follows in his footsteps and sacrifices her right eye, granting her the gift. She sees a long battle with men covered in blood and raging fires. She tells Aldarich that his prize will be Roman gold.
With his new found confidence, Aldarich led his men into battle. When Segestes and Hadgan enter the battle on behalf of the Germanic tribes, Aldarich remarks about looking who showed up. When Hadgan tells him that the barbarians had to stick together, Aldarich scoffs and (correctly) says to Hadgan that he was just waiting on a winner. The Germanic tribes go on to defeat Rome, marking the worst military defeat Rome had suffered up to that point in history.[3],
